He cracks me up when he does that...he's like Mom where's the food? :luv2: He watches me clean the litter boxes like that all the time. :rotfl:

Aw, they're cute! I'm more of a sucker for mice, though. :lmao:

Oh, Allie, they're beautiful! I love rats-but I've never lived somehwere that had problems with the big, unwelcome kind.

I had a friend that had one that was very well trained. user posted image They're very smart, aren't they?

Do you have any problems with the cats and the rats? I can't help but think mine would never let a smaller animal like that rest. user posted image

They are very smart...they even know their names...who knew. The cats enjoy watching them...but I make sure when I am handling them that no one is near pouncing distance. ;) Ya never know when natural instincts kick in. :lmao:

my close friend kate has a rat. her name is McRat (a little funny on Mcdonalds) she is so sweet too, I didn't think that i would ever really like rats but I do!
 GREAT PICS

Oh gosh, my cats would be pawing at that cage all day!! Licking their lips :lmao:

Well today I gave up my rat boys to my friend, Tory...her daughter will love them...plus I can go visit. With Jake around I really wouldn't have the time to spend with them...I haven't been paying much mind to them lately so I figured I should give them to someone who would pay attention to them.

I've always loved rats - I kept them myself for years ever since I worked in a pet shop when I was 18. The first job of the day was to feed all the small animals - all the hamsters and gerbils would hide at the back of their cages when I opened them to put the food in, but the rats would always come and say hello! A good few of them ended up coming home with me!

My last rat, Sid, passed away two years ago at the grand old age of 6 - he was a real sweetie, he'd roll over to have his belly rubbed and loved his cuddles! He also used to chase Motley - I could have him out of his cage while Motley was in the room, and she'd stalk him for a while but all he had to do was turn round and look at her and she's go running for cover! :rotfl:

I didn't get any more rats after Sid died - Sparkle arrived quite soon after, and it wouldn't be fair to keep a rat in the same house as something that thinks everything that moves is a cat toy and knows no fear!

Aw, Alyson. :( But at least you get to see them!!

Allie - January 28, 2007 03:01 AM (GMT)
:wha: I think I may have been allergic to them...I was getting bad headaches when I was in the room too long with them, stuffed up, choked feeling especially when cleaning the cage. Today I was a heck of a lot better.
:( I can't have everything...3 cats was enough but now with little Jake I just felt greedy...Tory just loves the ratties. :luv1:

Maybe you were allergic to the bedding/shavings? Ah, well. I'm sure Tory will adore them as much as you did. :)
