Title: You wouldn't have believed it....

Janice - January 31, 2007 12:54 PM (GMT)
..unless you were here to see it. Last night, the lady (Barb) who is adopting Stormie came over to bring her a new scratch toy to start playing with... she's a really nice lady. I seen her coming in and was able to answer the door without her ringing the doorbell...which for here, is a big thing. All my cats scatter at the sound of the door bell. So she came in quietly and sat on the living room rug and we proceeded to yap about this and that... All of a sudden I notice that EVERYONE OF MY CATS... Silkie, Pebbles, Smudgie, Digger, Stormie, Dallas and Patches were in that room with us playing with this new toy... more importantly, letting this lady touch them!! Don and I were dumbfounded....never ever in the years we've been fostering/adopting has this ever happened. I told Barb she must be magical and be an awesome "cat person" for this to happen. I know the toy was probably the draw, but for the ferals, Silkie and the twins to allow anyone else to touch them was really something else!!

Yea Janice that is crazy, somepeople just have the touch. I guess this means stormie found a great home and a wonderful cat lady to take care of him! Does this lady have any other cats?

I believe you!! That's happened to me on many occasions. Someone will tell me not to bother the cat because the cat is feral/mean/doesn't get along with strangers..and I'll listen..then said cat will come and start rubbing up against me and meowing at me to pet them. So I'll pet them and they'll purr as their owner's jaw will just DROP! It's kind of amusing actually, because I used to hate cats and fear them. Now it seems like every cat in the world just adores me lol.

A good example:

An old friend of mine had this tortie cat that was exactly as mean as my friend described her to be. She HATED strangers intruding in HER house. I saw her hiss at anyone that walked in. But she never hissed at me. Regardless I still left her alone because she could just only be tolerant of my presence but not like for me to touch her. I was wrong, she hopped up on my lap and rubbed her head against my chest begging for me to pet her. I petted her and she curled up into a little ball and slept on my lap. When my friend walked in the room..well this smiley says it all :ack:

Our friend Yves is like that... he's a cat magnet... the first time I noticed it was when he came to our house about 8 years ago and Moogy was still afraid around strangers... she actually came to him to be petted and he even was able to brush her... :ack:

:coocoo: My cats never do that unless there is some treats involved.
She is a cat magnet...I've only had one cat ever NOT like me...my friend's old CRANKY cat...didn't even like her. :wha: :rotfl:

That's so neat, Janice! My cats are the same way once thay door bell rings, so that had to be pretty amazing to watch!!!! :)

I'm happy for the adopter that the kitties felt comfy with her. Most animals find that they can sense who the "comfortable" people are. They are a lot smarter than us humans.
