Title: What is going on?!
SixxyKitty - March 20, 2007 06:54 PM (GMT)
Ok at first I figured that maybe this was just cuz of the season change but it's been going on for awhile now. lately for no apparent reason Joey has been attacking me! I won't even be doing anything to him and just now I was browsing on here and he leapt up and lashed at my arm! He's usually very mellow so it's not like him to have outbursts like this and I'm just starting to really get annoyed by it :pullhair:

My guess is he wants more of your attention....kitties can so demanding, you know :lmao:

may be he wants attention....Lucifer will jump at me if i am doing a bit of house cleaning, and not paying enough attention to him

My cat is wierd..i thought it was the attention thing as well so I would pet at him and he still lashes at me

Suzie has been doing the same thing lately, she doesn't like to be pet unless she gets food. :wha:

Are you wearing any clothing or using any grooming products that make you smell different than you did before? Have you been around any animals you weren't around before? If so, Joey may be telling you he's very upset and you need to scrub off what he finds offensive.
If he starts acting like he really wants to hurt you, it would be a good idea to call the vet and see if there could be a medical reason.

I think more than just petting him, play with a feather wand or throw mice or balls for some interactive play. A laser pointer really works too!

He definitely wants your attention. Maybe he wants you off the computer. :wha: :lmao:

I don't know what to tell you. It could be attention-related, but my mom's cat Phoebe gets plenty attention, but she attacks her all the time. :wha: She over all has a really bad case of torti-tude. She developed it at around a year to 1.5 years old. She has been raised in a loving home since she was 6 weeks, so we have no idea what her issue is! Joey may be one of those cats that go through a bad attitude stage.

I agree with Gaby - you should try playing with him with a fishing pole toy! Maybe he has some pent up energy that he needs to get rid of. :)

You know, when Suzie doesn't want me to pet her, she jumps off, and gets next to her toy. That's her message to play, so that may make her happy! :jump: :)

I do play with him all the time though. We play for 20 mins to an hour right after i get home from school and some time before I go to bed :wha: He's got plenty of toys, balls, feather toys, mice, and even a laser pointer :wha:

Suzie let me pet her today, and she purred. I think it may have been just her mood. How is Joey today? Still the same?
