Between work being hectic and taking night classes and wedding plans and house renovations I have just been tied up, but I wanted to take a minute to share with you about my parent's cat Mishu.

She was put to sleep last night after only 8 years of life. My parents said she was very lethargic and breathing heavy, and they took her to the vet....fluid was found in the lungs and a heart condition or cancer was suspected. So off they were an hour away to the veterinary hospital to get her an echocardiogram. My parents left her there over night. Her lungs were pumped and she was on oxygen.

After much deliberation, and speaking with the vets, it was decided to put Mishu to sleep. She had developed a rare heart condition that was not fixable. It was treatable in the short term, but even then they couldn't assure my parents that Mishu would have even 2 weeks of quality life left.

It was very upsetting that I couldn't be there for both Mishu and my parents as I had night class last night. On the way home I called my parents and consoled them. My father thanked me admist tears for the present I had given them...I had rescued and adopted Mishu for them back in '98 when the litter of kittens was found on Long Island University's Campus without a mother. She was only about 4 weeks old and fit into the palm of my hand. She stayed with me in my dorm room for a few weeks until I brought her home as a present to my parents over Thanksgiving break. She laid on my lap for the two hour ride on the Long Island Railroad and then the hour ride from NYC to my parents house in NJ.

She was a wonderful cat with a foot fettish who loved to lay in the sun. R.I.P. Mishu - I will never forget you and will always love you.

Now she's no longer suffering and can breathe and play like she could when she was healthy. She can keep my Tabby company. :hug:
