Title: YAYO ;( :( :(
Description: I need help

chickyjack - April 5, 2007 03:10 PM (GMT)

HI GUYS I need your support. I decided to leave here at the worst time and I now officially need, you. I would first like to start by saying that I am sorry, I appriciate all the PM's from all of you and thank you for understanding that I come here for fun!

I have the worst news to share with you right now .... it is Yayo,
Last night at around 12 I heasrd the worst imagenable belly growl coming from none other then yayo, and then a hiss from Noah, I first layed in bed with the assumption that it was just a little bickering and that the growl from Yayo was a warning to go away.
But then I heard it again, I jumped out of bed and there was Yayo laying in front of my bedroom door on the ground with my room mate Colleen standing over him. It was hard at first to tell whether or not there was anything really wrong. I touched all his legs first b4 lifting him on to his feet.
At this point he colapsed on to the ground, I pulled him in to my arms and layed him on my stomach on the couch, while Tyler frantically looked for the emergency 24hr vet number.
We were told by the vet at that point that he mighjt have slipped a disk in his back and it might just be tissue damage, and to let him rest for the night and if he still couldn't walk int he morning to bring him in. After a while of laying with him. Tyler tried to pick him up off me, as we were going to take him to bed with us for the night. But Yayo did the deep belly growl and hissed, and bit me b4 trying to storm away so that he wouldn't hurt me again, he struggled off me and then we realized something was extremely wrong as he hubbled away across the top of the two couches, holding up his back left leg, until he collapsed with the leg twisted in the most ackword angle.

I couldn't take it anymore and Called the Vet again, I told him that I was "sorry to call again but that I knew it wasnt his back or a simple slipped disk and he needed to see him and do something for my sweet old man. The vet told me he could meet me at the animal hospital within 15min, Tyler and I scooped up Yayo on a pillow and loaded him in to the car. We arrived at the Vet, at about 1am.

The vet looked him over and at first feel he knew that pheamer in his left leg (hip) was broken, The vet was not able to do x-rays at 1am so he decided that he needed to keep him over night and would call us first thing int he morning (but not with out telling me first that if the bone is broken in more then one place we will have to put him down, or that if we he opens the leg up and finds cancer in the bone and it is all mush after the impact then we will need to put him down) He gave Yayo drugs for the pain and loaded him into the kennel for the night.

Then this morning around 8am the phone rang, it was the vet the x-ray has been done, and at first glance without opening him up he tells me that it looks fixable,
He gave me three options
One was to pick him up for the weekend we will keep hiom on alot of drugs and then bring him back on monday for the operation,
We could comein right away and pay the deposit, they will do the operation today and I can take him home on saturday
Or the other option that i will not mention

Of course we know that I said that I will be right there with the 600$ for the deposit get him under the knife right away and then I will pick him up on saturday.

If when they open him up there is nothing they can do they will be calling me later today to let me know. I am so scared and soo overwhelmed with the cost at the moment that I have no idea what to do. I will copy and past this in to the it's a new day thread as well so that I know everyone will see it, but I need comfort frommy cat friends, the operation is going to cost me over 1000$
including the emergecy call last night which costs 150$
I am so worried about him I am going crazy.

Thank you so much for listening
I love you guys :( :(

Jackie ... you need support, you've got it.

I'm so sorry about Yayo! :( I know how much he means to you, and it always hurts us when our babies are hurt or sick. Good for you for calling the vet again! I'm not familiar with broken femurs in cats, so I don't know what to tell you there. See what the vet says - and we're here for you no matter what he says.

Take care! My thoughts are with you and Yayo. :comfort:

Poor Yayo. :( I hope that everything works out. Do you have any idea how it may have happened?
