Title: Chicken-Free Food *update*
Description: ??

The vet thinks Marley may have an allergy to chicken. Great. Almost all cat food has chicken! Well, today we bought this brand:
Fromm in the salmon flavor because it's almost chicken-free (has cartilage). I've been doing a search on the web for cat foods, but can anyone recommend or suggest a brand? This was the only dry I found that was nearly chicken-free and the canned didn't offer much hope either. Only 2 flavors available: beef and tuna.
Thanks in advance! :)

I am not really sure what to tell ya LIZ, there really isn't many brands of food wet or dry that is Chicken free!!!!!

I'm not having any luck on the internet.

Thanks Jackie. :) I read somewhere chicken allergies are rare? Like 3% in cats. :wha: I found a brand called Wysong I may check out, too. They have lamb & rice mixes.

I've never used Wysong, but I've heard they're pretty good. Good luck with your search.

I have a friend who has a cat with horrible allergies, one of which is to chicken. He gets horrible sores all over his body. I'll e-mail her to see what she feeds her boy and let you know what she says.

Okay, my friend recommended either Natural Balance Venison and Pea food (found at PetCo, Pet Supplies Plus, etc. but not PetSmart), or the non-chicken Fromm products.

Thanks JJ! I have them on the Fromm Salmon & Veg right now, but I wanted more variety for them.

I don't think cats/dogs need much variety; as long as you get Marley to accept the non-chicken food, I think you're good!!! That's the only way you can see if he has a chicken allergy.
Good luck Liz....I want you to keep your kits! :kittyluv:

Is the allergy chicken-specific or all poultry? I don't really have any recommendations, I am just curious! ;)
Elizabeth - April 10, 2007 01:30 AM (GMT)
Gaby, I just like to keep them interested and I heard giving them a little variety helps keep them from becomming too picky and fixated on kind of food. :)
Mel, I don't know, actually! Yarot said the vet mentioned chicken. I feed my cats Royal Canin, which is made primarily of chicken.

:pullhair: They liked the Fromm Salmon & Veggie, but I was low and decided to try the Wysong Anergen with lamb & rice. I mixed the two and NONE of them will eat anymore! I cannot go out and spend more money on food, as I've already been spending more looking for products NOT on the recall list, and looking for chicken-free food for Marley. We also had to buy the Prescription Diet T/D and upped the canned food, which is expensive (we went to Merrick). Will they eventually eat it?? I just can't believe all 3 won't touch it! Sasha just picks the T/D out of all 3 bowls. :rotfl:

Elizabeth, is it going any better?
Elizabeth - April 27, 2007 08:33 PM (GMT)
Yes, they are FINALLY eating the food. :rotfl: I was worried I was going to have skinny kitties! Well, Jones needs to lose some pounds. :duh:
