Title: Tommy

JJ... I noticed in Archer's spotlight thread, you said this:

Hmmm...I see both pictures.  Archer is around 18 or so pounds.  Like most Maine Coons he has large ears and a looooong body and "tree trunk" legs.

This makes me wonder even more if Tommy has Maine Coon in him. Aside from the fact that he's got the longer fur and the bushy tail, he's got what you described as "tree trunk legs". He's got the long body, but he's not incredibly tall - and he's got the thickest legs (especially the hind ones, it seems) and HUGE feet. His feet are larger than all our cats' feet. Plus he's got these long tufts of white fur sticking out between his toes. Do all medium-to-long-haired cats have that? What do you think? :wha:

He's gotten fluffier since this video, but I want you to see his legs. Anyway, I just wonder if maybe he's part Maine Coon. :wha:

That's a good question Jessica .... I've often thought the same thing about our Pippin too  He's just sooo big compared to Merri and Sam ... and his legs/paws are huge too.

Jessica, whatever Tommy is he's most definitely gorgeous.

Rita, I thought Pippin, Merry and Sam were from the same litter?

Hmmm, he does kind of look like he could have Maine Coon in him somewhere. JJ will know for sure!

They are from the same litter (so we've been told), but they are all very different. Pippin has very long, thick, and bushy hair; Merri has long but soft hair, and Sam's hais is short, thick and soft. :wha:

First of all, I have to say, what a gorgeous kitty! :luv2: :luv2: :luv2:

My Chloe has long tufts of hair between her toes and a long, fluffy tail. In fact, if you just change Tommy's coloring to orangey-brown and various shades of grey, you get Chloe. I don't know anything about her background, but I think Maine Coons are actually long-haired cats all over their bodies, aren't they? Chloe is medium-haired except for her toes and tail.

Sometimes I tease her, saying, "My, you have such hairy little feet!"

She's not impressed by that remark: "And your point is...?" :giggle:

As for cats being part of the same litter yet looking different... they have the same mother, but do they all have the same father? Maybe not. I remember when my Maggie had her last litter... 5 kittens, and absolutely no two of them resembled each other at all! And considering the number of tomcats Maggie had been "entertaining" out in the shed at the time (she was still half-feral and only moved in with us in the last 2 or 3 weeks of her pregnancy), I wasn't too surprised at the huge variation in the kittens.

Without knowing his parents, etc. it's hard to say if he has any Maine Coon in him, but it's possible. His head is more round than a Coonie's head, but his body definitely resembles a Coonie's body Jess!!

This is interesting. Bella has stumpy legs. Danielle has always said she has cankles. :lmao:

She looks a lot like a Maine Coon. I didn't know they had stumpy legs, though. And Bella has that long hair sticking out of her feet, too, making them look even bigger than they are.

Tommy is gorgeous! :luv2:

Tommy's legs do not resemble tree trunks. They are perfect for him, and are four of the cutest cat legs I've ever seen. He looks like a super-adorable bundle of cat-cuddles! :luv2:
