Title: Queen Turvy Demeter's reign has ended
Skippymjp - April 22, 2007 08:39 AM (GMT)
Turvy Demeter was grand matron of the Jellicle Tribe. She never had a litter of her own, as she was spayed as a kitten. But, she earned her title by raising as her own every little wayward soul I that I brought home. She would have been 17 years old on June the 3rd. She has a lot of the same ailments of age that most of us eventually get, arthritis in her hips, and her mind just wasn't as clear as it used to be, but she took her medications like a trooper, and acted like a kitten for the last year, climbing curtains and pouncing cabinets.
Last night, Turvy gave me no hint that her time had come. I found her beside her box where she had laid down quietly and simply slipped away. I've been trying to think of something to write that would do justice to her time here with me, with the tribe, something that would honor her memory, but all I can think of right now is how much I already miss her.
I've gathered her toys, her tag and her favorite sleeping blanky, and at first light I'll lay her to rest with Nauti and Cabela the D.O.G, underneath the birdfeeders that she loved so much.

This was Turvy Demeter's last photograph, taken just hours before the end, clowning around and wrecking a closet with her boys :)
