Title: Guess What I Found!!? (Update) **Vid Added**

Jennifer - May 1, 2007 02:31 PM (GMT)
While I was at my in-Laws house yesterday afternoon (I am taking care of their 2 Yorkie's while they are away for 3 weeks), I went out into the backyard and saw a Momma kitty w/ four little 4-week old kittens. Apparently she had them under the deck out there. After giving her some food, the Momma kitty warmed up sooooo much. I'm very certain she was a housecat until her owners discovered she was pregnant :bawling: . Definitly not feral. But she does have a cut on her leg that needs attention. Other then that and a little underweight, she's fine.
The babies have their eyes just opened and can walk around a bit. Including Mom, they are all orangies :luv2:
SO, my dilema is, Brent's Mom comes home on Sunday and they are not cat people, especially not 5 new cats layed on them people!! :lmao: So I need to get them out of there by then.
My plan is to get Mom in the cage....she still is somewhat protective of the babies if I move fast, so it'll be a challenge. Then I guess I'll clear out our cat box-storage-waste-lands room and keep them all in there until I figure what to do next.
But we all know what next will be :lmao: Brent was like, "5 new cats, there's no way"??!! Well, he said the same thing about The Beeper's and look where they ended up :rotfl:
So that's where I stand now. Wish me luck in getting her in the cage. I have until Sunday to do it and would prefer to bond with her and the babies a little more before scooping them all out of their home.

Crystal - May 1, 2007 02:53 PM (GMT)
So fun! Can't wait to hear more. Good luck!

Klea - May 1, 2007 03:03 PM (GMT)
I wish a mom and babies would show up under my porch... they'd be adopted thisfast!

I'm used to having lots of cats, and multitenerational families. Of course, they'd all need to be fixed so the generations don't go into any more levels of "begets." ;)

Elizabeth - May 1, 2007 03:53 PM (GMT)
Aw, Jen! I hope you can get her and the babies!!

Rita - May 1, 2007 04:30 PM (GMT)
Jennifer  :jump: :jump:

Such a horrible thing for the previous owners to do  , but such a wonderful thing that they've found you to take care of them

I hope you are able to catch Momma and babies :crossed:

Jennifer - May 1, 2007 04:33 PM (GMT)
I went over this morning to see them and she was still very friendly. I was holding one of the babies while she gave him a bath :luv2:
Now I just need to do some major switching around here at home so they can have their own room. I really hope she doesn't spaz out when I put her in the cage :ack: I'm going to use Tuna. But like I said, she's super loving....I just think it will be totally scary for her to be in a house after living outside for a month. The babies are the easy part.
The night time low temps are about to drop, so this needs to be done ASAP.
Liz, more Beeper's!!! :lmao: Speaking of which, Coco was all over me last night, and Brent said "She's telling you she doesn't want 5 new cats here".
We all know it's not Brent's decision anyways...and when he sees them, he'll change his mind. :neener:

lmw80 - May 1, 2007 04:36 PM (GMT)
Aw!! Good luck! :smooch:

Jennifer - May 1, 2007 04:37 PM (GMT)
Rita...I know..it makes me SICK and SO angry
All the Momma cat wants is love from me...well and food :lmao: But seriously, she was purring on my lap and even gave me a kiss. She hasn't had any love since she's had those babies. How could someone just toss her out after it was THIER responsibility to to spay her??? :bawling: :bawling:

Elizabeth - May 1, 2007 05:47 PM (GMT)
I hate people who are irresponsible with their pets!! I'm just so glad there are good people like you, Jen.

Gaby - May 1, 2007 06:17 PM (GMT)
 Awww, Jen....BLESS YOU!!! :smooch:

I'm certain you'll figure something out.....did you mean clearing a room at your place or the in-laws?

Are the babies nursing on mama? There was a recall for some sort of baby animal milk (Uni-Milk?)....so I wouldn't feed them that.

I hope you get some pics, but I realize that's pretty low priority now.

Jennifer - May 1, 2007 07:40 PM (GMT)
Gaby, Yes, I meant my house. The in-laws are dog people. The husband mainly. I was afarid of what may happen if they came home and found all of those cats in their backyard!! :ack: And yes, they are eating from Mom, thankfully :)

Thanks for all of the kind words, everyone

Well, I DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :jump:

*Please excuse the room..it's being renovated*

Getting Mom into the cage was easy but when I started to grab the babies, they started to flip out and scream which in turn made her flip out. When I put the 3rd baby in the cage, she managed to get out and attack me!! I just kept saying, "It's ok, It's ok" over and over and she miraculously calmed down in less then a minute. So a gave her a push into the cage and decided to get them back to my house and come back for the 4th baby. I went back and got him and now they are all settled in and seeming pretty happy :luv1:
The question is, what now???? :lmao: I just know I'm going to get attached just like w/ the Beeper's. I'm pretty sure my Mom will take one since she's been waiting for a kitten in crisis to adopt :lmao: But that still leaves us with 12 cats total!!!!

Elizabeth - May 1, 2007 08:07 PM (GMT)
:jump: :luv2: They are all so adorable!! They all look like mommy, too. :luv1:

Crystal - May 1, 2007 08:09 PM (GMT)
Oh how cute!!! I'll take them all!!! ;)

David - May 1, 2007 08:18 PM (GMT)
:luv2: I won't mind taking one either...

It's great that you rescued them! :)

Lisa - May 1, 2007 08:57 PM (GMT)

chickyjack - May 1, 2007 09:03 PM (GMT)
Was I EVER late on this one!

They are absolutely adorable, You could start advertising them now JEN, I would deffinetly take one too if you lived close as they ARE adorable.

I am just SO glad that you found them. :luv2: :luv1:

Lisa - May 1, 2007 09:09 PM (GMT)
In the second picture ... the one with his paws on the table leg ... I want him!!! :luvshow:

:jump: :jump: :jump: :jump:

TOO CUTE FOR WORDS!!!!!!!!!!!!! :luv2: :luv2: :luv2:

Well, your mom can't have just ONE....so that leaves 3! And mama needs a home! So that leaves 2 to adopt out. ;) :kittyluv:

Janice - May 1, 2007 09:51 PM (GMT)
OMG Jen... They are just stunning!! :luv2: :luv2: And bless you for taking them!!  I suppose if you can't keep them all, after spaying her, whomever you can't keep you could put up for adoption yourself?? That way you can screen any possibly adoptee's!!! Or hell.... Keep'em all!! :jump: :jump: :jump:

Jennifer - May 1, 2007 10:01 PM (GMT)
Yep, Janice..I'm going with the Keep em all I think!! :lmao: Brent came home at lunch and was petting them and saying nothing but smirking...but I could tell they had already stole his heart :rotfl:
The only one I'm worried about is the mom gettting along with our cats. The babies I know would adjust...she's probably only 5-6 months old, but will growl at the door when she here's ours. Maybe it's just because of the babies :wha:
I'll be taking her in to test her for FIV/FLV before even attempting introductions.
I got one of the babies to eat some wet food! He went to town on it!! :jump:

Janice - May 1, 2007 10:25 PM (GMT)
Yes, the growling and hissing is definitely because of the babies. Introducing the kittens will be easy as pie.... it's her that will be the concern. I only had one experience with this. I tried to introduce a young mother, spayed, but still two of her kittens were here and they were going on 3 months old, and she just attacked Pebbles and Smudgie viciously....even after seeing each other for a month through the lattice door.... so, yeah... that might be a toughie. And yes, get her check for FIV and Feline Lukemia... She's a beauty Jenn... :luv2: those babies are just precious... :luv2: You are beyond so nice to take them all in...you rock girl !!

Jennifer - May 1, 2007 10:30 PM (GMT)
Thanks, Janice. Darn it...I was afraid of that. I would just die if she attacked Heidi, Mandy or Coco (Midnight can hold her own ;) )
Well, Maybe I can talk my Mom into taking her instead. ;) She's just so sweet though and I feel like we've really bonded.. :bawling:

Klea - May 2, 2007 12:15 AM (GMT)
I've never seen so many orange cats in one place, ever! But they're really cute. :)

In my experience with mother cats and non-mother cats, much depends on the already-established pecking order. The female interactions you need to worry about will be between the new cat and whichever of your older ones is the "alpha" female. Both of them will see the other as a rival for the top position, and the mom cat will want to protect her babies, in any case. The females who are lower in the pecking order shouldn't be as much of a problem.

Jennifer - May 2, 2007 01:14 AM (GMT)
I guess we'll just have to wait and see how it goes. It will be a couple weeks before I do the introduction.. I need to get her tested first and spayed but want to wait until she's finished nursing and comfortable with both of us.. :)

Brent named the Mom, Holly :luv2: He's in love with her...that didn't take long, did it ;) :lmao: And he held all of the babies and made the same comment as you, Klea, regarding all of the orangeness. :rotfl: He said he knows I'm not going to give them up. :duh:

Lisa - May 2, 2007 01:18 AM (GMT)
Have you been able to determine sex on the babies? Are they all boys???

Donald - May 2, 2007 01:22 AM (GMT)
Awww Jen, they are so cute! My mom will be getting one kitten but you are so lucky to have 4!!!! :kittyluv: :kittyluv:

Jennifer - May 2, 2007 01:31 AM (GMT)
There are 3 girls and 1 little boy, Lisa :luv1: :luv1:

Klea - May 2, 2007 02:21 AM (GMT)
A friend of mine had an orange tabby a long time ago. The cat's name was Loki, and he had the most beautiful green eyes. He was a really nice cat, but unfortunately he suffered from diabetes, which is what ultimately led to his death. :(

He was well-named, though... one night at supper, he waited until my friend's dad's attention was elsewhere, and then ran off down to the basement with the dad's steak! :lmao:

He was a most unhappy cat when forced to give up his prize. ;)

Did you say three girls??? I'll have to get JJ to clarify but isn't that rare in orangies?? I thought that most orangies were boys?!

OMG! I want one!! Will you ship to Canada? ;)

Mel, I'm for sure that there are 3 girls!!!!! They are orange tabbies so I'm not sure if that comes into play with the orangies being mainly boys. Wow, I forgot about that fact!!!! How cool!!! I'm just so excited...they have stolen my heart as well as Brent's.

Elizabeth - May 2, 2007 04:26 AM (GMT)
Will you ship to Wisconsin? They're the color of cheese! :rotfl:

Actually it's a myth that "orange" girl cats are rare. I mean the mom and 3 kittens are orange! Since the girls are all red (orange) then the dad also had to be red. To make a red female the female must get a X chromosome from both parents that carries red.

TxnKats - May 2, 2007 04:52 AM (GMT)
Jen, they are adorable, I'm so happy you could take them in..

Jennifer - May 2, 2007 05:06 AM (GMT)
 Thank you

Jessica - May 2, 2007 05:33 AM (GMT)
:omg: Look at all that orange! Holy smokes are they ever adorable! Jen, you rock for taking them in. And Brent naming mama Holly - :luv1: how cute! They're just such sweet fuzzballs, mama included!!!!!

Lucky kitties to be found by you. I tell you, when we do get a house  Ty better be prepared for more furries. :lmao:

Just make sure of a few things before you introduce her. One, that the kittens are all weened and eating. That she has all her shots.... and make sure she is spayed and make sure she has been separated (just another room) for awhile before you start the introductions. She'll see her kittens later....as I said, introducing the kittens is easy....it's her that may be the tough one....you may need to go really slow, or, it could go really fast. It will really depend on her attitude towards the other cats.

Sarah_Pussycat - May 2, 2007 05:04 PM (GMT)
:luv2: What a beautiful little family!

Jen - YOU ROCK!
