Title: Poor Jake

Allie - July 9, 2007 04:16 PM (GMT)
Sometime in the past 20 minutes when I left Lucky & Jake alone in the bedroom...Jake came out with this HUGE cut on his left front paw. It's not bleeding but it looks like some one tried to skin him. I KNOW Lucky hurt him. :bawling: Things are not getting better at all. Jake's cut looks like someone sliced him with a razor blade...I just trimmed their nails on Friday.
Lucky is being a major problem...but only with Jake..he is terrified of her now. :(
I guess I am going have to take her to the vets...but we don't have the extra cash for bit...I will just monitor them even more closely. But I cannot take much more of Lucky's moodiness. I really can't see her jealousy going away.

Before rehoming her you really ought to talk to the vet. It's not Lucky's fault and I think she should be given a chance. I lived for a year with torment from Sasha & Marley, but I knew it just wasn't fair to rehome Marley without trying everything I could. Marley had scratched Jones in the EYE a week before I put him on fluoxetine. Poor Jones couldn't open his eye for half the day.

Lucky has been with you longer and I just think you ought to do all you can for her. There were times I wanted to rehome Marley so badly, but I knew I wasn't being fair. Surprisingly, the vet visit was only $150 and the medication is $3 for a 40-day supply.

I know what you're going through and I sympathize. However, I don't think it's fair to Lucky. She's under a tremendous amount of stress obviously. She didn't take well to Jake and now she's trying to get used to another kitty. You're a wonderful kitty mom taking these kitties into your home. I just think Lucky needs more help before a new home. But only you know what's best.

:bawling: Poor Jake.....I don't blame him for being scared of her now; how is Pickles handling the situation? Is she fighting with him too?

Maybe you can keep her in a closed room so the others can have a little relief?

I would try medication for short term and see how it goes... :kittyluv:

 Thanks Liz
Oh yeah we're going to try and get to the vets asap...but it's really hard to handle her right now. It's not like she is freaking out all the time...but she really took a chunk out of Jakey's paw. :)

Pickles is fine...it's weird. I figured he'd be uncomfortable. Lucky kinda looks like she is nervous of him b/c he is bigger...Pickles also hold his own when someone gets on his nerves. For a kitty with no front claws he's is doing great.

I'm in complete agreement with Liz on this. Think of it from Lucky's point of view - she was the baby, and now she's not anymore (Jake is). She's already upset about that. PLUS she now has another kitty (Pickles) that she has to share her space with! Everything has changed for her, and she is dealing with it in the only way she knows how. If you rehomed her at this point (on top of everything else that has happened - i.e. Jake and Pickles), I think she'd be absolutely heartbroken. :bawling:

Just something to think about! I do wish you luck, and I think she deserves a chance with the meds.

We are going to take her to the vets but it can't happen for a bit right now...I am very worried about her. We will be trying ALL other options before re homing her. Don't worry guys I love my moody cat...she is just like me...I need meds to keep me even too. ;)
