Title: I may be taking on a huge task...

Crystal - August 9, 2007 02:39 AM (GMT)
So my sister and her boyfriend were over today and her boyfriend told me about a guy he works with. This guy has a cat that had kittens - and he said he was going to put them in a bag and leave them on the freeway! user posted image

I told him to tell this guy I'll take the kittens and the mom and I'll deal with them. IDIOT! So yeah, I'm calling around tomorrow to see if I can find a small, no-kill shelter that will take them and get them set up (we're not in the position to be paying for all of that right now), but there is NO WAY I'm going to stand by and let that happen. That guy is SICK. I refuse to go there when my sister and her boyfriend get the kittens, I'd honestly hurt him. I will be calling him after I have them, though, and giving him a piece of my mind! I just want the kittens safe from harm before I say anything.

    :bawling: I cannot believe he said he would do that!!!! Some people are beyond sick!

Kudos to you for taking this task on, Crystal. Those poor cats.

:onoff: :thwack: The freeway!! WTF!! I can't believe some people! I couldn't go near that guy either... :2hand: :rasp:
Crystal you are doing a great thing by looking after the kittens.

I'm still in the process of trying to get them - I need to go through my sister's boyfriend so it's going to be a task - and then I don't know where I'm going to go from there. I just want them away from him so I can make sure they're safe.

Crystal    I know it's a lot for you to take on ... I hope you're able to find a shelter for them.
Once you have them safely in your possession, please give this guy a swift kick in the ass for me :Liz:

Okay, so update...

My sister's boyfriend called me today and the situation was completely wrong. The guy never said what her boyfriend said he did - I don't know how that was interpretted like that (my sister's boyfriend is a little...um...slow...I guess you'd say...so I'm not surprised). The cat isn't even his, it's his uncle's. And this happens all the time (irresponsible cat owners) and they always take them down to our APL (which is a great place, I'm sure they get nabbed up like nothing). The guy was mad with my sister's boyfriend, telling him that he's going to get the cops called on him for stuff like that (which is what was going to happen, I was going to report him after I had the kittens). From what was said, he knows what he's doing - he knows they have to be at least 6 weeks to leave their mom, what needs to be done to get them there, etc. Now my sister's boyfriend isn't sure what he said at first.

So yeah, all it boils down to is a misunderstanding and an irresponsible cat owner. I told him to relay to the guy that he should get his cat spayed, I doubt he'll do it though.

I'm relieved - relieved that the kittens will be taken care of and relieved that I don't have to take it on. I don't really have room for them here, but if it had to be done I was going to do it.

 I didn't want to chime in on this...I was too upset.

But, after reading what you wrote I feel a tiny bit better. Although, you're right, they need to spay and neuter. I also feel that the people who take the kittens won't spay/neuter either! This is how the animals are in the situation they are in....

I know...I don't have to preach to you....I apologize. It's just very frustrating!

I understand, Gaby. I was really annoyed with the fact that he told me what he did and then it wasn't even what the guy said. WHY would you say something like that to me then?! And then they just blew it off like it was no big deal for a few days while I'm worrying about it. I'm worrying I may have to rearrange my life to take care of this and they didn't even have the care to call the guy. At one point the guy was supposedly telling my sister's boyfriend that I could have them, come pick them up Friday, then the next he's yelling at him because of what he said. Who knows. :pullhair:

And I made sure to tell him to pass along that he should get her neutered and he just goes, "Yeah, he won't."

We don't have a lot of money but I always make sure I have the money to get my cats fixed before I get my cats.

Amen to that. If we can't afford to take care of them properly, we don't get a cat.
