Title: Do males spray more in larger groups?

While I do not have a spraying problem with my two males, mother and I were just having our little cat chat a bit ago. When I got Lilly Anne, that broke the balance of 2 males and 2 females. I jokingly quipped that I needed one more male to get everything "back into balance." Mom said that even though they all would be neutered, having too many males in the house would present a spraying problem as they still want to mark their territory. I did not think a large group of all neutered males would have this problem. Does this indeed happen or would it be an isolated incident? Do any of us with more than 2 males have this problem?
Now I am not planning to adopt another cat, male or female. Right now, 5 is plenty. But I was curious to see if this was the exception or the norm.

Then I guess you will never have to worry about spraying. :) Now my two males do not spray but then they are neutered. I guess I have never heard of neutered males in a group spraying, especially if they were neutered at a young age.

I dunno! Certainly if they weren't neutered. But I think if they're neutered before the behavior starts, they shouldn't spray... I know with more kitties there can be litterbox issues, though. And even if cats are neutered & spayed, there can be territorial issues. I know that all too well.

I HEAR YA!!
There shouldn't be spraying at all if the cats were fixed before they started. From MY experience females are more territorial. :wha:
