Title: Midnight is eating the broom

my3kitties - January 8, 2008 09:18 PM (GMT)
Since she hasn't had a successful dash out the front door, Midnight has taken to chewing on our broom. The broom is like the one in the link: http://www.recaddy.com/ec/index.php?cPath=21. It's the one on the right hand side of the page.

Should I be worried? She doesn't seem to swallow anything she's bitten off, so I guess that's good. But is it safe for her?

I don't know what if anything they put into those chemical wise to seal etc. I probably would want to keep it out of her way.

You may want to look into buy some cat grass and grow it for her to chop on! :)

I would definitely put it out of her reach. She can and will eat those pieces and I doubt it's very good for her system.

I agree with Susan, try getting some cat grass.

It's funny that both you and Susan mentioned cat grass. My daughter, Lauren, had actually gotten some cat grass for the cats and none of them were remotely interested in it. If there's a plan B (besides the obvious moving the broom, lol) I'd love to hear it.

I wish I had a suggestion, but I never did get Abbey to stop chewing on our Christmas tree...lol. I would have said cat grass too....but there are lots of plants that are edible, so maybe you could try something more woody? Since its a straw broom that Midnight likes to chew, that might be "missing" from her diet...or at least she thinks it is...haha.

I've seen some toys made from sisal which is natural plant fiber, maybe they would chew on them

^ Ooh, good idea!
