Alright, so Tigger has been living in my basement for a few months now. I bought him in due to an injury from a fight, but then kept him in to watch him (he's had infections on and off from the fight that we're still trying to fix) and due to the horrible weather.

Well it's been spring for the past week, nice weather...so I decided it was time to let him go back out.

What's my issue? He doesn't WANT to go back out! He was terrified outside and then ran back in, waiting for me at the top of the stairs. When I walked in, he ran downstairs and to his room, watching for me to follow. :lmao:

He can't come upstairs because he's FIV positive...but now I have a decision to make. Do I keep him in our basement, where he seems pretty content, or do I try to find a single-cat home from him?

I need to talk to Erik asap!

He's definitely safer inside... :)

That's one of the pluses - I was worried about him today when I was setting him up outside. We never did catch Mr. Orange, the damn cat is too smart. And obviously there's other things that could hurt him as well.

He is no dummy, why would he go outside when he knows he is so loved, safe and cared for right where he is. It is a tough decision, paws crossed you come to the perfect conclusion!

Well, Tigger is back outside now.

I've noticed lately scratched on him that looked self-inflicted (either he did them or did them trying to get out of the basement) and he was always really upset with me when I had to leave him in his room at night. So last week I tried to take him outside again and it worked! We walked outside and he went right to his room and started exploring the house we built him and everything - then he went outside the kitty door and starting rolling around on the driveway.

He's been living outside since Wednesday and he's so happy and no more marks on himself at all. I've noticed he's been pretty much just living in the yard - he's got his room set up in our porch and he likes to nap in the front bushes. I like that he's just staying close, it makes me feel better about him being out there. And his "trips" out are much shorter now, too - he used to be gone a day or two, just out and about, but now he's here at all times.

Today Erik and I were out cleaning the yard, garage, and my truck and he hung out with us all day. He loves to run around with us when we're out there and he just seems so happy. :D

Here he is sleeping in his room.
