Title: My fancy betta
Description: Casper

:luv2: I got this Betta off of aquabid.com, right from Thailand with another person's fish order. I wanted to see how much better quality expensive Betta truly are compared to the ones from Walmart & pet store chains. I actually know that his fish is around 4 months old. Most of the ones you find elsewhere are much older & usually don't live long.
Enough fish babble...I am on a CAT forum now. :giggle:
Casper is a Double double ray crown tail betta boy
When I first got him in April.

Now :)

If you don't mind me asking, how much more expensive would a "Thai Betta" cost compared to the .97 centers at WalMart??

He was $15.65 on aquabid, then another $7 for the Canadian trans shipper in Ontario. Plus shipping $50+ for the box. I ended up spending only $30 b/c I didn't have to pay for shipping. He would have been $80 otherwise...then I would NOT have been getting him. Shipping is too expensive for one fish.
Betta cost us here in Nova Scotia any where from $3.50 to $9. Walmart from $2.77 to $6.44
So a betta which cost that much more better live a heck of a lot longer than a $5 one.

Nice lookin fish, I'd be scared to spend that much for a fish. Neon Tetras for me

That's the trouble with fish keeping...the nicer fish always cost much more. it's part of the reason where opening our own fish house/breedery in the next few years. The mark UP on fish is outrageous. :coocoo: Right now one of our local fish rooms is taking our baby african cichlids for $3-5 a 1" fish, they mark it up to 15.99.
