Title: still wont use the litter box

My cat, Tux, is 4 years old and has been using his litter box since he was a kitten. (of course). But now, for some reason, hes been using our hallway as his litterbox. For the past week or so, he just refuses to use his box! I've cleaned it 3 times. Really cleaned it, like, dumped all the litter and washed it out. Everytime time he poops in that hall, i show him, spank him, move the poop to the box, and show him that. But he just wont use it!!! arrr! Should I move the litterbox to the hall?? what should I do?? :wha:

I'm sorry to say, a trip to the vet is probably needed. :(

If everything checks out ok at the vet I would try Cat Attract litter. I wouldn't spank him.
click ---> Cat Attract

If you can setup two boxes in two locations, try the attract litter

I agree with the previous replies. Make the vet visit asap. This is what My Thai started doing when I found out he has crystals. I would also make sure the smell is gone in that area and add the second box. Paws crossed, sending hugs, pets and prayers

I agree with the above. He could be having some urinary tract problems. It's his way of telling you there is a problem.

Also, pick up some Nature's Miracle after the problem has been diagnosed to spray on the area's he's been using.

actually, he just came back from the vet (shots), and vet didn't say anything else was wrong. Maybe it is the smell. I've cleaned the carpet a couple of times but the smell might still be there. I will try everything you all have suggested - the Cat Attract litter (didn't know about that!), moving the box to the hall, and the Natures Miracle to clean. Thanks everyone! :thumbsup:
