The last couple of mornings when Casey has jumped on the bed, I could swear I heard one of her joints cracking - I'm thinking it's one of her "ankles". She's 14 - is this normal in older cats? Is it a sign of arthritis? Of course she just had her yearly vet visit a month ago and it wasn't happening then so I didn't get to ask the vet. She doesn't seem to be in pain, she's not avoiding jumping that I have noticed, she seems to be her same old self.
Anyone know anything about this? Thoughts, suggestions?
Thanks!
Most of the time noisy joints are caused by trapped air in the fluids of the joint, when the get released under pressure they make the noise. Arthritic joints can also cause noise because the joints are worn uneven. Certainly normal in older age.
You should hear how I creak when I get up from the Lazy Boy
