Title: Ruby has scabby ears - update!

As in the title - Ruby has scabby ears! (well one of them anyway....)

She's always had a few scabby bits around her face, which have all healed up by themselves - but at the moment her ear is particularly bad! It was all scabby just inside, but that healed and I thought she'd be ok - but now it's gone scabby on the outside too!

She's going to the vets on Tuesday to get it sorted, but I'm wondering if it might be ear mites and she's having a bit of an allergic reaction? She doesn't seem too bothered by it, it doesn't seem to be itching her or anything!

probably mites, they can be a bother

Nala used to have that issue right outside her ears - it was from scratching herself even though her ears were fine.

I also think it may be mites. Good luck giving the ear drops - keep your mouth shut when you're done or you may get an unpleasantly tasting treat when she shakes her head! :rotfl:

I'm gonna go with mites too. Some cats with mites or fleas scab up pretty bad.

Yeh that's why I'm thinking mites- Motley got fleas when she was younger and had a nasty allergic reaction, so they're all frontlined to bits now. I've told them they're not allowed any little pets of their own- but it looks like Rubes has found a way round it!

I'm thinking mites too. My cat Koko had that same issue, and it was mites.

Ruby's been to the vets today, and the vet thinks it's mites too (her ears are very waxy, it's hard for me to see in them!). It wasn't easy holding her down while the vet looked in her ears - and she managed to slice my finger with her ninja claws! I had to ask the vet for a plaster

Anyway - she's had a couple of injections to sort out the sore bits (anti-inflammatory and antibiotic), and the stuff for the mites goes on the back of her neck like Frontline (it does worms at the same time too!), so I get to escape the shower! :rotfl:

(And in case you were wondering, I DID check the bill afterwards, and no my plaster WASN'T on it! :giggle: )

Good news! Hopefully she'll feel all better soon!! And your finger... :rotfl:

Awesome!! Ooh, and you don't have to give drops.

Did the vet told you that you have to treat all your babies for ear mites... it's usually what they do because it can spread to the other ones... and maybe Andy's babies should be too because they are in contact with your girls when you visit... I'm sorry if I'm the bearer of bad news... :(
