Title: Not good...

:( :pullhair: So we have a problem here. One of our cats is peeing in the basement (aka my daycare!) and it's not good.

We don't know WHO it is, but we think it may be Tommy, just because we know all our cats' personalities and issues. We may be wrong - we're certainly not blaming him!!!

And we're pretty sure we know why whoever is peeing down there, too. Not to sound rude or anything, but my sister's house REEKS to the heavens above of cat urine. She has 2 unfixed male cats and they're constantly spraying in her house. It's enough to make you sick, literally. Anyway, that's a long story for another day.

Well, we've NEVER EVER had issues with our boys peeing on the floor. Heck, they even go in the litterbox when it's FULL - one time we went away, and our neighbour forgot to change the box up for us and instead of peeing or pooing on the floor or on furniture, we came home to a few nuggets and a puddle of pee in the bathtub, right by the drain.

Anyway, we had my nephews here over the summer a few times... and it seems to have been since then, that we've noticed a couple of pee spots on the carpet downstairs. Where my nephews leave their bags, clothes, things. And, again, not to sound rude BUT my nephews don't shower normally and their clothes and belongings smell like their house smells.

Do you think it's possible that the smells off my nephews has caused one of our cats to go down there and "mark"????

We bought a bottle of Urine Gone but that didn't work. They peed on the spot after I treated it. I think the carpet downstairs is too thick for a spray, so we just went out and bought Stink Free treatment... supposedly one of the best treatments out there. We're going to soak the carpets with that and see what happens. And then, we'll get them professionally cleaned. I can't have this issue... I run a business from my basement. Not to mention, we can't have a smelly house.

I just highly suspect that the smells off of my nephews has something to do with it - because everything they own stinks of cat urine/spray - it's really sad and gross, actually. Even their portable DVD player stunk so badly, Billy and Tucker were hovering over it, smelling it like crazy! :(

I know it's my sister and family, but, I have NO idea. None whatsoever. And the kids go to school like that.

I think you've figured out your problem.

Well, we've wondered if that could be it. I was wondering what other people think of that likelihood! :)

I definitely think you're right as well. Would cat attract litter help? I am not sure if it would because it's a unique situation, but maybe it's worth a try?
