Yes, that is correct. Kenny, the reason they dod not provide us with a basic one is because I went to a low-cost spay/neuter/wellness clinic right in my town.
www.petguards.comThey provide low cost spay/neuter/vaccination services and they are a non-profit clinic. All their vets and techs are volunteer and the clinic does not receive any tax dollars or any other government assistance. They are 100% supported by private donations. As such, it is up to us to provide for an ecollar be it prefabricated or homemade. I have heard nothing but positive things from people I know about Petguards. The clinic is very clean and walking in, one would think they are in a regular veterinary hospital. Now they do not do services like setting a broken bone, pumping a stomach, etc. They are simply a wellness and neuter clinic. But then Kenny, you cannot walk into your primary care physician's office and have an appendectomy performed right there, can ya? :)
Anyway, I fashioned a homemade collar out of a paper plate. To make sure he did not get it off, I did not cut a slit from the outside to the hole for the neck. I made the hole plenty big enough to fit comfortably around the neck, yet one that I had to wiggle to get past his head. It has not come off yet and within 10 minutes, Petey accepted his collar. I have photos of him in it which I will post later today. :)
