Title: Heimlich Manoeuvre

Melanie - January 6, 2009 10:57 PM (GMT)
Well on New Years Day, in the middle of a massive snow storm, we had a bit of a scare. We thought Abbey was choking. She had all the warning signs, panic, clawing at her face, retching. Rob was still in bed, so I called him out to help me. I remained perfectly calm, even googling this link...

I thought I would share as it is definately something that everyone should know in case of emergency.

We weren't sure if she was choking for sure, as she went on like this for at least 3-4 minutes and if she wasn't breathing, surely she would have passed out. As I held her down, Rob reached into her mouth and pulled out a needle from our artificial Christmas tree. It was stuck in her back tooth and was tickling her gag reflex. As soon as I knew she was ok, I melted. I picked her up and was hugging her and crying. But at least its good to know that I will stay calm in an emergency if it does happen again! Until after anyway!
