I'm on a baby forum and I just canNOT stand when people think cats are bad for babies!! They come up with BS like it will make their baby allergic (actually, the opposite is true), that fur is dangerous to them, that they'll smother them... GRR.

And then others will say you HAVE to keep your cats out of the crib, stroller, away from all the baby's stuff... Holy crap, it's a cat, not a disease. My cats love sleeping in the crib! I don't care. It's not going to hurt Vivi. I won't let them sleep IN there WITH her... But she doesn't sleep in the crib, anyway.

Ugh. Ok, just had to vent.

Joey used to sleep with Jaelynn just fine. And ok sure they might smother the cat but that's where you TEACH the child how to TREAT a cat properly.

I personally think if either a dog would be a bit more dangerous for a baby than a cat. But that doesn't mean I would never introduce Jaelynn to one.

I'm with you, Liz. Can't STAND it when people have ignorant attitudes like that at all. No patience for them. Never mind those who get rid of their cat when a baby comes along, for no good reason. Just "not with a baby in the house", or some such BS. No more time for the cat once baby comes along. :rolleyes: :mad:

I agree with everyone else, ignorant. I didn't get to grow up with pets (although I did beg my dad every other day for one!) but I think it'd be great to teach kids about responsibility and just about how to treat animals.

I raised my daughter with cats and she always adored them... :kithug: and now that she is an adult she has 3 cats of her own... ;)

I was raised with Siamese cats... and, well, you know how it is for me NOW! ;)

Ugh, i hate it when people think that cats will harm their babies. That just means that they are not doing a very good job at keeping care of their cats AND raising their babies!

I now avoid anything that mentions CATS on the baby forum. I don't wanna get myself all worked up.

You know, when Viv was like 6 or 7 months old, she got attacked by Sasha. I never for a second thought about getting rid of her (although killing her did cross my mind for a brief second ;) ). Ultimately, it was MY fault for not paying attention and letting Viv crawl to her and sneak up on her. Sasha was either sleeping or off in her own kitty world when Viv grabbed her fur. Can you imagine if it were a big ol' dog? Kids, no even ADULTS, get killed by dogs! Not knocking the pooches, as we're planning to get one one day, too.

I just get so annoyed because cats are pretty clean and fur will not kill your baby. Vivi has eaten far worse things than cat fur & cat food. :duh:

People have weird thought about cats and kids all the time. How come not dogs? A good sized dog could do a lot more damage to a child than a cat. :mad: :rolleyes:

yeah, those people are really acting like you're putting AIDS in the same bed as your child. my cats are very protective of me and i'm sure they'll do the same for you and your family. idiots...
