Title: So long, little Shadow..
Description: He never got to open his eyes...

Donald - April 24, 2009 04:13 AM (GMT)
One of my kittens passed away a little bit ago, the all black one. I named him Shadow in honor of a former neighbor's black cat. I am more upset about him than the loss of Munchie. But at least he is over the bridge running alongside my beloved Munchie and Poopsie.

Run free, my beloved Shadow... I never got to see your eyes... :bawling:

:( Good luck with the rest of them, Donald, I'm sure you're doing a great job.

The vet said I did everything right. She said though that fading kitten syndrome is very real and for some reason, they just pass. He was always covered up by the other kittens on the bottom of the pile but the vet did not feel that was an issue. I will say though that now I am worried for the other four. For a first time nurser, I guess the apprehension is normal. Had he lived, Shadow was one of the two I planned to keep!! :luv2:

They say that after they cross the bridge, they let us know they are ok in a dream, vision, etc. Well, while I was taking a little power nap before work in the lunchroom, I saw a vision of little Shadow scampering along the table...just as healthy and energetic as he could be!

Nobody at work is faulting me for what I failed at doing. They know I did my very best using the resources and information available to me. But still, it hurts... :bawling:

There's a breeder on a french site that I go to that lost 2 Bengal kittens on a litter of 3 babies... the kitten were taken care of by their loving little mommy and there was nothing anybody could have done... I guess it just happends sometimes... I'm sure you did everything right... :comfort:
