Title: Nutro Max Cat Food Recall
Crystal - May 22, 2009 01:44 PM (GMT)
I wanted everyone to be aware of this - we feed our cats Nutro Max Cat and have been affected. I called Petsmart and they said if I have my receipt (have to look) I can bring the food back in a bag (don't have the original bag) and they'll swap it out.
Luckily, no cats have been affected...yet. So let's all keep our fingers crossed they caught this and there will be no issues.

| Today, Nutro Products announced a voluntary recall of select varieties of NUTRO® NATURAL CHOICE® COMPLETE CARE® Dry Cat Foods and NUTRO® MAX® Cat Dry Foods with “Best If Used By Dates” between May 12, 2010 and August 22, 2010. The cat food is being voluntarily recalled in the United States and ten additional countries. This recall is due to incorrect levels of zinc and potassium in our finished product resulting from a production error by a US-based premix supplier. |

Thank you Crystal... It's a good thing I switched to Eukanuba last year... ;)

I forgot Nutro was part of the large recall last time - I'm just switching back to Chicken Soup. I switched to the Max Cat food because it was easier for me to buy because Petsmart carries it, and my local Pet Supplies Plus discontinued the large bags of Chicken Soup. But at this rate, I order my wet food online, I'll start ordering my dry food with it - and there's a couple places we have to drive a bit to, but they carry it. My sister and I are heading out there either today or tomorrow.

Its like they just dont care. :wha: I know thats what got my Mittens. I wish I could prove it. I switched to purina pro plan awhile back.

I just ordered a big order of Chicken Soup - I'm switching them back. They don't care anyway, they started chowing as soon as I poured it. Luckily my sister had a full bag so we split it until my new food gets here.

I think nothing should be shipped until a through testing has been performed

Yes, the fact that they're only pulling SOME food has me worried...never using their food again.

UGH and to think we are still feeding Nutro to our cats!!! :pullhair: And wouldn't you know we don't have the bag anymore... SONOFABITCH. Sorry. UGH!!! We are both in Texas and we have someone checking on the cats in WI until we can get them down next week.
STUPID NUTRO!!! Never again!! And why did we go back to it?? I feel so stupid.

I know this topic is a few months old, but I still VERY much agree with its subject! PLEASE avoid anything Nutro! (This includes FELINE GREENIES.) Even though the company claims their food is safe! If it's safe, then why are so many cats and dogs still getting sick and dying?
I remind you that it is NUTRO that took my Tabby's life two and a half years ago. Please ... don't take the chance!
