David - December 22, 2006 12:27 AM (GMT)
This morning (about 3 am) Dixie was meowing for me to let her out. I figured she had to use the bathroom, so I let her out. She hasn't come back at all yet, and this isn't like her because in the morning at 7, she comes to the door to let her in (feeding time). I haven't seen her at all... It's driving me crazy! :bawling: :coocoo:

Jennifer - December 22, 2006 01:51 AM (GMT)
Ohh, noooo...I'm so sorry...I hope she comes back very soon :comfort:

Allie - December 22, 2006 01:11 PM (GMT)
 Hope she is home. :bawling: :comfort:

coaster - December 22, 2006 02:04 PM (GMT)
She probably didn't go far. Is there someplace she could be hiding? Under the porch, behind the woodpile, etc?

Susan - December 22, 2006 02:44 PM (GMT)
I hope she's come back!! :(

Jennifer - December 22, 2006 04:36 PM (GMT)
Has she came back yet??

Nope, I've checked. I've called her a dozen times, but she's nowhere to be found. I think that she could've gone into someone else's garage, and now is trapped there. Hopefully she's ok. :(

David - December 22, 2006 06:55 PM (GMT)
I just found Dixie laying on the ground. I called her, and she didn't want to get up. So I went over, picked her up, and found out that there's something wrong with her right rear leg. Theres a huge mark of blood or something, going across it. :( I'm going to take her to the vet, wish us luck!

coaster - December 22, 2006 08:06 PM (GMT)
Oh dear, hurry over there and get her leg taken care of!! Poor Dixie, I hope you'll be all right!! :(

Susan - December 22, 2006 09:02 PM (GMT)
Poor Dixie!! :( I'm so glad you found her! Keep us posted!

David - December 22, 2006 09:28 PM (GMT)
The vet was closed (go figure) and so I was spending time with Dixie. I put her in a temporary cast, and washed out her wound. Here's her now:

She finally has calm down, before she wouldn't stop meowing.
Thank goodness I found her, or else something worse could have happened.....

Gaby - December 22, 2006 09:33 PM (GMT)
:comfort:

Oh nooo...poor Dixie....do you have any antibiotics on hand?? I think she could really use some...that's a nasty wound...

Hugs to her

David - December 22, 2006 09:41 PM (GMT)
I treated her wound with a spray called Solarcaine, to prevent infection. Right now, shes pretty ok, she's sleeping. She doesn't want to eat or drink water, if she doesn't want to eat tomorrow, I'm taking her to a vet. Keep your fingers crossed for Dixie!! I hope she feels better! :( :kittyluv:
No, I don't have any cat antibiotics. :(

coaster - December 22, 2006 09:43 PM (GMT)
Why do these things happen just before a weekend? And a long holiday weekend to boot? :(

Things always seem to happen at the wrong time. :( Perfect timing for the holidays

coaster - December 22, 2006 09:48 PM (GMT)
I suppose the vet was closed early for the holidays. I wish cats would learn to get sick or hurt while the vets are open.

coaster - December 22, 2006 09:51 PM (GMT)
Well, that sounded kind of dumb. I really wish cats would learn not to get sick or hurt AT ALL!! :)

Me too!
But at least Dixie is fine for now. She's sleeping and very calm
This is the first time something has happened to Dixie, except the other time when we first got her, she was sick, had earmites, and was in bad condition. The vet said that if we haven't bought her there sooner, that she could've died. :(

Jennifer - December 22, 2006 10:49 PM (GMT)
It's hard to tell by the pictures the extent of how bad the wound is. Is it an open wound??? If it is and she's not eating or drinking, infection may have set in already....if so, it's SO very important to have her seen immediatly. Do you have an Emergency 24 hour vet around where you live?? I'm just worried about the little girl :comfort: And as Christmas gets closer, you'll have an even harder time getting someone to see her for treatment.

No the wound isn't open. No, there's not a 24 hour emergency vet around. I'm going to look for vets tomorrow, if she doesn't eat tomorrow. Dixie right now is fine. She is actually letting me pet her now. :kittyluv:

Jennifer - December 22, 2006 11:00 PM (GMT)
That's good  I was just worried if it was a gapping wound and getting infected.......
I'm glad she's doing well :) :luv1:

Sarah_Pussycat - December 23, 2006 12:07 AM (GMT)
Awwww poor Dixie :comfort:

Sending some Morkle love her way for a speedy recovery xx

msrealdoll - December 23, 2006 12:58 AM (GMT)
David, I'm so sorry. I know you're beside yourself with worry. Poor little Dixie.user posted image

I hope you can find someone to see her tomorrow. If it's a cat bite wound, it will probably get infected, and they can be very nasty-life threatening sometimes. Does it look like a bite of some kind?

Maybe it's just a bad scrape from a fence or something. I hope it doesn't hurt her too bad....user posted image

Kailie - December 23, 2006 01:17 AM (GMT)
Awww, I am keeping poor little Dixie in my thoughts hun. :( :comfort:

David - December 23, 2006 01:31 AM (GMT)
It doesn't look like a cat bite, it's more of a scrape. I think it may also be from a fence or something.
Thank you all, I hope Dixie feels a little better tomorrow, enough to eat and drink. :kittyluv:
Right now she's still resting peacefully. Tomorrow is a new day!

Lisa - December 23, 2006 02:16 AM (GMT)
The poor baby!! :bawling:

I was also worried when I read that she wasn't eating. I'm glad she's eating and drinking! Has she walked around??

David - December 23, 2006 02:37 AM (GMT)
No, she's been laying down. Hopefully tomorrow she'll start walking!

Glenn - December 23, 2006 01:24 PM (GMT)
Our whole family's thoughts and prayers are with you and Dixie. Please keep all of us informed of her progress. :comfort:

David - December 23, 2006 03:44 PM (GMT)
Thank you!
Right now, Dixie is sleeping. She ate and drank very little, and she used the litterbox. So far so good.

Lisa - December 23, 2006 03:47 PM (GMT)
That's wonderful that she used the litter box! :jump: :jump: I'll keep the gorgeous girl in my thoughts! :praying:

Jennifer - December 24, 2006 01:24 AM (GMT)
Is she still doing ok, David?

David - December 24, 2006 02:20 AM (GMT)
Yes she is! She ate and drank water, and used the litter box. She now purrs when I pet her, because I think that she knows that I want to help her!

Lisa - December 24, 2006 02:31 AM (GMT)
Awesome! How's that leg looking? I'm sure you know this already, but please be on the lookout for any signs of infection! I hope she'll be fine!! :crossed:

David - December 24, 2006 03:01 AM (GMT)
Her leg looks ok, no open wound. Doesn't look infected either.

msrealdoll - December 24, 2006 05:12 AM (GMT)
It sounds like she's doing great! user posted image It must not have been as bad as it looked in that picture. If she's up and around, eating and drinking, she should be okay.

David, do you think you could feel and tell if she gets a fever? A fever would be a pretty sure sign of infection. If she gets a fever, she needs to get to a vet immediately. Their little bodies can't handle much of a fever for very long. user posted image

David - December 24, 2006 12:03 PM (GMT)
I hope she doesn't have a fever! :(
I'll check today if she has a fever... Hopefully she doesn't!
I just can't wait until she's back to normal!
