So we haven't paid the pet deposit here because, well, we can't afford it. Hubby just got a new job and we have had NO money for extras. It's $500 for one pet and we have 2. :thumbsdown:
We had an inspection today... Unannounced. A leasing agent and a maintenance guy were here checking for upgrades, damages, etc. So now we are worried about the cats. I had no time to hide anything!!! :(
I don't know. We can't afford the penalty and the deposit. If it were just the maint guy I wouldn't worry. But an actual office staffer came, too, and they looked EVERYWHERE. Even in the fridge. :rolleyes:
*sigh* We'll see. But it won't be good news if we are caught.

Crisis solved! Hubby called the office to ask about the pet deposit and it's only $250. We just had to pay the nonrefundable fee and not the security deposit. :thumbsup:

I had a similar problem once when a workman came round unannounced and I just had Motley and Sparkle - in a property where pets weren't allowed.
The law here says the landlord should give at least 24 hours notice, so I think that's why I got away with it, or I would have taken them up on that!

Phew!
We dealt with our fair share of scares when we were renting. In our first place we weren't allowed pets without like $100 each and by the time we left, we had 3 cats and nothing paid. :whistle:
Our second place we paid the deposit, which was much more reasonable (it was just $100 flat fee) and could only have 2 cats...but by the time we left, we had 4. :whistle:
Our third place was only allowed 2, but by the time we left, we had 5. :whistle:
Notice a trend here?! :lmao: Luckily the next place we rented was my dad's house, which we later bought from him.

Well, one of the cats is paid for. ;) We have 3 more, but shh.... I wonder if we should eventually try and introduce my mom's cats to mine. They are in her room. :duh: Once Jones got into her room and I heard that low eeerrrrrrRRRRRRrooooowwwww!!!! :lmao: He was making is presence known to Bebe & Phoebe.
