Title: Here we go again...
Kailie - January 19, 2010 01:37 AM (GMT)
I was at the meeting tonight for ca-r-ma (Cat Rescue Maritimes) and the woman who heads it, Angela, also works for the Saint John Animal Rescue League and knows I foster. Well she knew my previous kittens were all adopted, so she told me about this pregnant cat at the shelter who is apparently quite small, young with NO upper front teeth?!? :wha: She came in as a stray and is already starting to show signs of the URI that unfortunately runs rampant at the shelter.
Soooo...after work tomorrow and after we bring Teyah home from the vet, we'll be heading to the shelter to pick up this kitty, who obviously needs us, and foster her and her soon to be babies. :luv2: I can't help but to give her and her babies a chance.

Well we have her home. :luv1: She is a beautiful torbie we've named Gumbi (where she has no top front teeth.) :lmao: Her lil tongue is always sticking out! Her eyes are pretty crusty and she is really stuffed up, so she's on meds and hopefully I can have her nice and healthy in no time, so send those positive vibes.
She's super sweet, loves affection. :luv2: She's pregnant all right, but I think we have awhile to go yet. Also, her appetite isn't affected by her being sick, because she just INHALES her food. Poor thing was probably starving before she came to the shelter. :(

:kittyluv: Awww, how great she found you guys! She couldn't have a better place to live. ;)
I can't wait to see photos and hear about her progress.
Figaro came to us with teeth rotting in his mouth, we were driving home and thought it was coming from outside but it was coming from his mouth. Before we were able to get them taken out (had to wait for the appointment) he would lay on me in bed at night and clean himself and it was horrible, I would gag...he stunk so bad, and he was always pawing at his mouth. The vet said most of the teeth literally fell out when he was taking care of them (he cleaned and saved as many as he could...and that ended up being 3 of his big fangs up front). So now that's all he has, 3 teeth, and he just gums everything but he's just fine. I just make sure if I'm feeding them meat that I cut it up really small so he doesn't have an issue.

It's great that you are taking care of the momma. :) Get well soon Gumbi!

It's kind of weird Crystal, it's just her top front teeth, and there's no rotting. It almost looks like she never had them at all. :wha: Maybe it's some kind of birth defect, who knows, but it certainly doesn't seem to bother her any or impede her eating.

Gumbi has turned in Gumbi Jane. :rotfl:
She's so precious, with here lil tongue always sticking out. I'm going to try to get some pictures of her today. She is looking SO much better than she did when she came to us on Tuesday. :luv2: She is such a lovey too, incredibly affectionate. All of my fosters have been though...almost like they're so thankful that they're being helped! :luv2:

I bet getting her away from the URI area has helped a bunch. :D
Can't wait to see pictures!!

She is just too cute! :luv2: With a cute little trait like that (the tongue thing) she should find a home in no time!
