Title: Cats chasing bugs in the home
Donaldjr1969 - December 29, 2006 03:44 AM (GMT)
One of the most enjoyable things to have happen is to get a bug or something come into my house. Willie and Poopsie are the ones on the scene and it is funny because They are relentless in catching the bugs. The most enjoyable thing to watch them catch is a moth! If one gets inside the house, I can say with certainty that it only has 30 minutes left to live. Because Willie WILL hunt it down and catch it. He will NOT give up! :)
So do any of your kitties just go nuts if they see a bug in the house? :)

Oh, yes, do they ever!! In fact, Rocket likes catching spiders so much that when we spot one high up on the wall where he can't reach it, I lift him up there, he knocks it down, then goes after it on the floor.

That's what I love about Willie catching a moth. Even more so because a moth does not fly straight. I have always been amazed at how they manage to knock a flying moth or insect right out of the air. Willie appears to be a very laid back kitty. But his demeanor changes upon sight of a moth. Heh, when he does catch it, the moth becomes his snack!

Oh yes my guys will usually chatter up a storm and chase whatever may intrude on us. Scratch is really good at catching flies :)

I have 9 AWESOME bug catchers here!

Oh yes! They liked the summertime because bugs would always be around the light next to our door, and sometimes when we were going in or out one would get in.
Also, Monkey is our official family spider-killer. My husband is afraid of them...like, he'd come get me to kill them kind of thing...

Lady bugs make them all go nuts.

For bugs that crawl, my kitties like to play with them! :lmao:
But it's the funniest thing in the world to see Tucker chase a fly! :rotfl: One time he took flight for about 10 feet it seemed! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Katie is the first one...then Andy joins in.....Sky and Rox couldn't care less! :lmao:

Oh bug chasing is big here, but mostly for Abbey. Lola will join in for a minute or two but loses interest pretty easy. Abbey is relentless! No bug is safe in this house!

Isnt it jjust the funniest? :lmao: If Boo cant catch the bug herself she will keep showing it to you until you catch it and then you have to show her!

Poopsie is the only one that joins Willie in catching the bugs. She will stay with Willie most of the time until it is caught. Once in a while, Poopsie will lose interest, but that is very rare.

Our cats love it...and I'll admit, if I see one I don't kill it, I just called the cats. :)
Minnie doesn't meow much (just when she wants attention or is being bothered) but she meows her head off when she finds a bug. We say, "Minnie, buggy!" when one gets in and she goes nuts - she knows what we're talking about.
A few years back when we lived in Cincinnati, we had the summer of the Cicadas (2004 I believe) - a few got in and oh man did they squeal as Minnie threw them around the bathroom and kitchen. :rotfl:

That's exactly what we used to do with our cat, Charlie! When we used to live in the apartment building back in Toronto, and it was time for the June bugs to come out, he would GO NUTS. All we'd have to say was "Charlie, where's the buggies?" or "Get them buggies!" and he'd dart right to the window sill and beat the glass up! :lmao: The June bugs were in SWARMS and they're stupid :duh: so they were constantly flying into the glass - so the sound of that drove him crazy. :giggle:
