Title: Common chores you CANNOT do with cats around!

Donaldjr1969 - January 4, 2007 06:11 PM (GMT)
I think by now my fellow Top Cats members have figured out that Poopsie is the "Class Clown" of the bunch! But the thing where she really cracks me up with is...trying to make the bed!!!! She is the only one that will flop on the bed while trying to make it. I put the fitted sheet on the mattress this morning and she layed down on it. Yet when I went to put the top sheet down, she did not even move! :D Yet she will meow because the sheet is on top of her and she cannot easily find her way out unless she is at the edge of the mattress or is just too lazy to get out! :D But...when the top sheet is on, she lays there and will not even move out of the way of the bedspread!!

I tell ya, Poopsie can make a 5 minute job a 30 minute job!!! :jump: However, my father has multiple cats that do the same thing. When he moves one out of the way, another takes its place!!! He has told me that there are times when he goes to do something else to distract the cats and then returns to his bed!! :rotfl:

Jessica - January 4, 2007 06:36 PM (GMT)
:rotfl: Yep, Tucker and Billy are the same way when I make the bed! One time I put the fitted sheet on top of Tucker and you would SWEAR there was a Tasmanian devil underneath it. :rotfl: He went snaky until I let him out. :giggle:

Donaldjr1969 - January 4, 2007 06:46 PM (GMT)
Poopsie just will sit there and squak at me! :D If I do not let her out, she will eventually try to get her way out to which she does succeed. But when she is covered, she really loves to fight my hand from under the sheets! :)

Yup the bed! Although I now have a trick. I stand downstairs and shake their bag of treats, the of course come running. Give them a few and run back upstairs to make the bed. It buys me a good 5 minutes to get the job done! ;)

While non of my current cats do this, my father cannot fold his laundry if he sets it down. One of his cats will wait for him in his laundry room. When dad puts everything into the basket out of the dryer, one of his furballs will hop right on the warm laundry and take a nap! :)

Jessica - January 4, 2007 07:29 PM (GMT)
Tucker is the clean and warm laundry fiend in this house! :) As soon as we bring the basket of clean clothes upstairs, he's in it like a dirty sock!

:rotfl: pardon the pun!

Donaldjr1969 - January 4, 2007 07:39 PM (GMT)
Jessica, my former cat from a while ago, Keekus, she used to be a laundry freak. :)

Janice - January 4, 2007 09:34 PM (GMT)
Yeah...what is with making the bed??? Digger goes freakin nuts... the kittens too, but not the older three.... weird!! :coocoo: :coocoo:

David - January 4, 2007 09:46 PM (GMT)
:rotfl: Dixie never did that.

I took a Japanese class for about a year, and everytime I tried to do my homework (which was hard enough writing in the symbols normally) Monkey would be either trying to lay on my notebook, or attacking the pencil. I used to get SO mad at him! I'd give him another pencil to play with, but I think he really liked the way the pencil moves when I'm writing with it.

As soon as I even head towards the bed, Imhotep makes a made dive towards it. :rotfl:

Craftlady - January 5, 2007 12:45 AM (GMT)
I agree making the bed is #1 "cant do" especially with 4 felines, someone has to get involved with helping mom.

Another is paying bills or doing paper work at my desk. Eleanor has to be right there with mom.

Playing texas holdem on line (play $). Eleanor is my helper she lays her paws or body on my hand that is over the mouse.

Don, you only have ONE cat that wants to "help" you make the bed? How come you're so lucky?!?

estelle58 - January 5, 2007 02:10 AM (GMT)
Changing the sheets on the bed without their "help" is impossible to do... :pullhair: but is sooooooo much fun like this... :lmao:

Jennifer - January 5, 2007 02:11 AM (GMT)
Ohhhhh yes!! Bed making...IMPOSSIBLE around here :lmao: If I'm in a hurry, I have to lock them out of the bedroom to make the bed. That's how serious they are about "helping".

Other tasks......let's see, wet floors are so inviting, as is scooping the litter boxes. All of a sudden it's an emergency pee crisis! :rotfl:

Donaldjr1969 - January 5, 2007 02:39 AM (GMT)
Jen, there is one task most of our kitties choose not to help us with. Vacuuming the rug!!! Poopsie runs if she even SEES the vacuum! Willie on the other hand, he could care less. HE will lay right in front of it. It is only when I nudge him that he moves. And even then, he will often smartmouth me for disturbing him!!! :lmao:

SixxyKitty - January 5, 2007 02:43 AM (GMT)
Make the bed? Joey doesn't let me get OUT of it. When mom comes and wakes me up at 7 in the morning Joey will run up and hop ontop of me and make himself all comfy.

The excuse, "my cat won't let me go to school today." has yet to work though...

LOL, Trista! That is so funny! Too bad Poopsie and Tooties would not do the same to me and prevent me from going to work! :lmao:

Mimi is the bed rat here. Just rustle a sheet and she's galloping down the hall to get there. Danielle always tries to sneak to make her bed because Mimi makes it take so danged long. It never works, though. Mimi must help!user posted image

I was just complaining about that tonight. I started scooping, and here comes Mimi, Brudder and WillyB. It's like the sound of the scoop reminds them they have to go.user posted image

Our Boyz are the same :rotfl: We have to time the making of the bed until they're asleep downstairs otherwise we just give up. the guest beds are easy to make because we can close the bedroom doors but our bedroom door has a hole cut into the bottom of it.

As well, whenever we (the royal we) fold laundry one or two of the Boyz, especially Pippin, will hop up and lay on the particular article of clothing being folded.

Crazy Boyz :jump: :rotfl: :jump:

Jen, whenEVER I get a new litterbox, it seems Poopsie has to be the very first one to use it. I have a Littermaid and the very instant I got it filled, Poopsie tried to get in there! She would not even let me plug it in and turn it on first!!!

:rotfl: Bed, laundry and litterbox duties!

My mom's cat, bebe, makes dish washing a real chore! She gets up on the counter and swats at my mom and gets in the way. :duh:

Allie - January 7, 2007 12:33 PM (GMT)
I guess kitties seem to think our beds and laundry are there for their pleasure. Lucky makes making the bed really annoying, and try folding laundry...she jumps at the ties, sleeves and belts. :nono: :lmao:

Sam does that too .... he sits in the window or right on the counter and tries to play with the bubbles or the water when I'm rinsing the dishes :lmao:

Another one is dusting with a Swiffer duster. Pup loves them! user posted image

They really do look kind of like cat toys.
