Title: Woah This really scared me!

David - January 7, 2007 12:31 AM (GMT)
When I was looking at the Petfinder websites for calico cats in Connecticut, I found this: http://search.petfinder.com/petnote/displa...i?petid=6626954
Yes, I am looking for cats/kittens, but I don't know when I may get one.

David - January 7, 2007 12:32 AM (GMT)
It makes me sad to see that there are so many homeless cats! :(

SonyaMarie - January 7, 2007 01:17 AM (GMT)
Aww David, I think you should get her!! Maybe its a sign from god :) and being kinda looking like Dixie, may help with your coping.. think about it :)

I second that. Usually when you really feel comfortable around another cat or something in the back of your mind tells you to get another cat, that is a sign and a good one to boot.

Oh, David, I think you're a goner......such a sweet face, a calico, and
HOW DID THEY EVER GIVE HER THE RIGHT NAME!!

David - January 7, 2007 02:32 AM (GMT)

If you haven't already called, go for it! She's adorable and I think she'd feel right at home with you.

:coocoo: Weird...you should go check her out OR check someone out.
6 years ago on April 1. I lost my Winston at 3.5years...he died right on my floor in front of me..suddenly. :bawling: Anyhow, over month later I found Milo at our local SPCA...he and I had an instant bond :luv2: I haven't had a bond like this with any other cat I have had. He's my boy.
The point is, I felt guilty wanting another kitty so soon but I got Milo anyways...it was THE BEST decision I've made. :kittyluv:

I have sometimes wondered about this. Without getting intoa big discussion regarding the metaphysical aspects of this, but I have often felt that when a cat passes, their souls look for another cat to send to you. I mean look at Milo. You were meant to get Milo. David, you found this cat named Dixie that reminds you of your Dixie. I mean really, that is very coincidental! So I wonder if when a cat passes well before their time, does their spirit not look for another cat as soon as possible to send to you? In any case David, I think that is more than a coincidence. It is more of an omen, albeit a very good one. You really should go look into this.

I decided I'm not getting this cat.
When I called, they said she doesn't get along with people well (probably because she came off the streets). I guess that I haven't found the "right" cat yet, but I'll definitely get one during or before Spring... Wish me luck!

To me, it is not so much how well she gets along with the people at the shelter. Rather it is how she gets along with you. But if she did not seem right or want to really get along with you, then as you said, this is not the right cat.

I sure do love kitties and when I go to PetSmart, I wish I could adopt them all! But the ones that would be first choice are the ones that come right to the edge of the cage to see me and rub against my hand. :)

I know what you mean!
She didn't seem like the right cat... :(

Hey all!!!
I decided to get a kitten as soon as possible.
I will be searching through newspapers for free kittens, and may even get one this week! I hope to get a kitten, because they're easier to train when very young.

Why a free kitten, David?

I have sometimes wondered about this.  Without getting intoa big discussion regarding the metaphysical aspects of this, but I have often felt that when a cat passes, their souls look for another cat to send to you.

I think that's what happened when I got Gussy. He was a rescue kitten in the fall of 1993 (a terribly cold October), and he was a stray kitten that somehow got separated from his mother. He wasn't even six weeks old.

I'll tell Gussy's story in more detail at a later time, but briefly, I really believe that my first cat, Cassandra, sent him to me. Cassandra died in the spring of 1992, and I was devastated. She was 14 and had cancer.

After I'd had Gussy for awhile, some things about his personality and mannerisms began to emerge that got not only me, but a couple of other people thinking that maybe Gussy was somehow a reincarnation of Cassandra? Well, not physically -- she was Seal-Point Siamese and Gussy is generic grey with a white shirtfront and socks. But it's eerie sometimes...

From the time she was a baby, Cassandra would lick my ear. Just my right ear. That's something her mother did, too. It's a bedtime ritual Cassandra continued her entire life (she always slept with me).

Well, Gussy didn't do that when he was young, but at some point during the past couple of months, he's decided to take it up. So our bedtime ritual is that I get my right ear washed, as well as my nose and chin. In between that, he wants lots of kisses on his forehead (which is something I've done since he was a tiny baby).

My own mother shudders at the thought of all this contact. My grandmother would have had a fit. But I just tell people, in all seriousness, that my cat takes pride in his mom (me), and can't let her go around with a dirty nose and ear. It's just not done. :kittyluv:

I meant free if one is free, or I'll have to pay for one.

I'm glad that you found another kitten that Cassandra sent.
