Topical one here cos I could use the advice!

Have your kitties ever had to wear those silly collars that look like lampshades to stop them scratching/pulling at stitches?

If so, how did they react - and were there any tricks to getting them to keep it on?

Abbey wore one after her spay. Once she got used to it, it was like an extension of her body. I kept it on by using her collar. I just weaved her collar through the holes in the plastic collar and then tightened it to her proper neck adjustment. She was never able to get it off.

Pepper did, ( now deceased ) didn't really bother her much, she was a real trooper. She managed to yank if off a couple times.

Motley's ok with hers so far - she's managed to get it off once but didn't protest too much when I put it back on again!
If she does it again I'll try it a bit tighter.

Rosie was a different story when she had one after her spay - she just kept running round in circles backwards and throwing herself about - I had to take it off before she did any damage to herself! (She was really good and left her stitches alone though!)

Eddie had to wear one for just over 4 MONTHS when his tail was amputated. We had to buy a bigger one than the one he was fitted with at first, because he managed to bang it hard enough on the floor to go after his stump. I think we actually got the cone for dogs.

Once he got over it being on him, it didn't bother him too much. He was actually quite comfortable with it on!
